We bring you a big haul of information for the upcoming Sonic Hacking Contest 2025, beginning in less than one week!

Entries

We're starting off this announcement with news on the Entries! This year (provided nothing bad occurs at the last minute), we will be hosting 75 entries!

In more detail, we will be having...

• 40 ROM hacks, of which 23 Judged and 17 Unjudged;
• 18 Modern 2D mods, of which 13 Judged and 5 Unjudged;
• 17 3D Mods, of which 11 Judged and 6 Unjudged

Looks like a big haul for the ROM hack enthusiasts! Want more of those spicy details? Then you'll have to keep your eyes peeled and yourself ready, for the release of every single one of these entries on October 4th, 2025! More information coming soon.

Capability Sheet

Of course, with the competition starting so soon, you may be wondering who is going to judge what.

And so, better late than never, we are releasing the Judges' Capability Sheet! You can see more information right here! We'll try to keep this up to date in case other unexpected occurrences happen. Voting weights for Judged trophies are adjusted according to how many Judges are looking at one particular entry, so, for this year, for example, a Mean Bean entry will score higher for a certain Judged trophy compared to a Sonic 1 entry. This does not apply for Community trophies, where 1 vote is worth 1 point, no matter what.

A selection of entries will not be judged by certain Judges due to our outlined exceptions, which you can see in this page. We'll publish this information at the end of the Contest Period.

Stream Schedule

The stream schedule is finally available for you to see! You can find it right here! Regrettably, especially for our Europe-based viewers, a good bunch of the early hours are left empty, but we still have quite a lot to show, and a couple new folks to the roster!

Trailer

So, with us so close to opening the gates, you may be wondering how the trailer's coming along!

Well... it could've gone better.

Unfortunately, like last year, it looks like we may have to push another launch trailer, and we can not promise that it'll at all be released. We are very sorry to deliver this announcement on the state of the trailer, but, should we be able to get it out there, we hope to show off something wonderful!
