Is it a ROM hack? Is it a mod? No, it's an open source version of Sonic the Hedgehog CD, based on the PC/PS2 port's decompilation! Play an authentic version of the game on the platform of your choice!

Project status

I consider this an alpha release, as it's not feature-complete yet. There is no Time Attack mode, and the attract/demo mode is missing. Note that movie playback is currently out-of-scope, so no intro or ending sequences.

Setup instructions

Only the executable is provided. The assets need to be extracted from Sonic Gems Collection and the DINO version of the Windows 95 PC port. As this uses SDL2, you also need to download the SDL2 DLL from the official website. Important: you must choose the 32-bit version.

On the DVD of Sonic Gems Collection, you'll find the file SONICCD.CVM in the SONICCD folder. Open it with your favourite archive program, and extract its contents in the same folder as the executable.

The only thing you need from the DINO version of the PC port is the PCM.CMP file, which is missing from the DirectX version of the port. This needs to be placed in the same folder as the executable as well.
